Oh you fancy, Huh?

Psalm 37:4 reads “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart”.
Often we misinterpret this verse by thinking that if we come to God and pray for our desires and wants, He will grant us these things, but God does not work like that. We cannot ask God for riches, to be fancy, to gratify us in fleshly desires because that is not His will.

For example:
*Like any other human, I have asked God to give me riches and bring me wealth, He told me no, I have to learn to depend on Him. Temporary riches will come and go, but His kingdom is everlasting “For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18)

*In the mist of hectic times, I asked God to give me patience, He told me no, patience is something I will have to learn through my tribulations. It’s not granted, it’s conquered!

*I asked God to take away my pride, He told me no, that is something I will have to turn in.

*Lastly I asked God to save my father that was dying from cancer, my grandparents who were ill due to old age, and a young friend that still had much to see on earth…He told me no, death is a part of life and I need to trust in Him.

Finally I realized it is in His will do I live. It is in His testimony that I shall find peace and happiness. When I pray of desires, it’s His desires, not mine. As I grow closer to Him, then and only then will my heart start to let go of things of this world and will start to desire the same things He wants. Such as: love my neighbor, forgive my trespasses as He forgives me, to praise Him and spread His good word.

There will be moments that will hurt me, moments where the darkness will creep in and rain on my parade but we must learn that these moments in life are made to test our character and mold us into humbled and appreciative beings. Before we get so caught up on temporary fixations that make us pray for outlandish things, let’s learn to let go of the desires of flesh and pray to live in His will! You may think you are fancy, but God may think otherwise.

Let’s continue to spread positivity! As always stay encouraged!
